~1 Cor. 10:12 (NLT)
In my quiet time the other day, this was the verse I studied. It told the story about Sardis and how they used to be so alive in the Lord, but have since fallen from that because they allowed cracks to form. The people boasted that no enemy could penetrate their church or city because they were on such a high mountain and it was VERY hard to climb. Most people couldn't make it up the high, steep, dangerous mountain. As the people continued their prideful boasting, they didn't realize that their were cracks beginning to form in the foundation. What started as a small, tiny crack was now big enough for the enemy to slip in unnoticed.
As a follower of Christ, the devil can creep into our lives, into our FOUNDATION, and destroy us if we aren't careful in maintaining and doing what we need to do to keep our foundation strong. We can't afford to go a day or two without reading The Word, praying, and worshipping. We can't honestly think that if we go without doing these things, something will not break. We aren't that strong. Not without Him.
I feel that is what has happened to me lately. I have gotten bogged down with life; being newly married adds a lot more responsibilities! I haven't kept my priorities straight. And being so prideful as to think I am strong enough to go without reading His Word, praying, etc, is absolutely insane!
If you go on to read verse 13, "But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can't stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it. "
This verse is also very important because it says that we are not alone in our struggles/temptations. You haven't been singled out. GOD IS FAITHFUL!!! I just love that! And because God is faithful, he gives us the power and authority to be able to withstand any type of temptation through Him! Praise God!
Dear Father, thank you for showing me the cracks in my foundation. Thank you for being faithful. Thank you for loving me for who I am. I pray today that you will continue to show me the cracks in my foundation and the areas in my life that I am lacking in. Lord, continue to fill it with your amazing grout! I declare today that I will never go a day without doing what I need to do to keep my foundation strong. Because my ultimate goal is to better serve You and do what You have called me to do. Make me a vessel of your power, love, and authority so that I may help others. I pray this in Jesus' Name. Amen!
Blessings!
Abby
